Philipp Thonet was born in Marburg in 1953. The trained trader is co-owner and head of International Sales at Gebrüder Thonet GmbH in Frankenberg/Eder. In 1989, he joined the management of the, since 1819, family-run company whose name is associated with some of the most groundbreaking innovations in furniture history including Chair No. 14, the world's first mass-produced product, and with the tradition of the Bauhaus cantilever chairs by Mart Stam, Marcel Breuer and Mies von der Rohe. After the Second World War, the company has cooperated with such important designers as Lord Foster, James Irvine and Piero Lissoni. thonet.de |
