Management as a design challenge
The Zollverein School of Management and Design is the only teaching and research institution of its kind within Europe. The school was established in 2003 as a nonprofit corporation and as a publicly-supported project. In 2005, the internationallyoriented MBA-degree program ‚Business Design’ was introduced. In 2008, the institution will be established as a Public Private School in the educational market in the cooperation with the Duisburg-Essen University and other partners. Our program uses an innovative approach to combine management and design skills. Our postgraduate degree programs are directed at managerial professionals from the creative field, who are confronted with economic considerations, and also at business managers who have to make design-related decisions. The school will be located in a newly constructed building on the Zollverein World Heritage site from the middle of 2006. With this, an architecturally ambitious and inspiring work environment will take shape. For the top management position, we are looking for –to be elected by partners- our “academic director and president” as well as “chief executive.” Academic director and president (m/f)This position includes all essential managerial tasks of a modern educational institution. The aim will be to further anchor the Zollverein School in cooperation with other universities and partners as a sustainable Public Private Partnership beyond the year 2008. The main duties are consequently the strategic development and orientation of the Zollverein School, process management and direction, the business management, and the continual shaping of the content of the course offering, especially with regard to international orientation. Requirements for this position are a university education, and possibly a doctoral degree, as well as a distinct responsibleness in the academic field. Where the requirements are met, this position can be tied into a professorship. Chief executive (m/f)This position comprises the comprehensive business management of the Zollverein School in the sense of overlapping business management: controlling, finance and accountancy, cooperation with the tax auditor, taxes, organisation as well as general administration, including benchmark comparisons. In addition, we expect sure instinct in dealing with the issues of fund raising and sponsoring which are to be covered jointly with the president. You possess the entire spectrum of requirements, are entrepreneurial and oriented to the market. Your strength is the fit in an educational institution in connection with expertise from private enterprise. We desire a business-related university degree. Representative ability, charisma, and a high communicative competence are essential for both positions. Leadership strength, social competence, and goalorientation as well as cooperation-readiness are further characteristics for success. This profile is rounded off with good English language skills.
