Dr. Cordula Meier has been Professor for Design Sciences at the University of Duisburg-Essen since 2003.

Among other things, Cordula Meier studied at the Universities of Essen and Bochum. Following her graduation and post-doctoral period, she was a Guest Professor at the Polytechnic for Design in Offenbach and, from 1997, Professor for Design Theory at the Polytechnic for Design in Schwäbisch Gmünd.

Her professorship includes teaching the theoretical fundamentals of all design courses. Design history and design theory are two elements which are essential for preparing students to become professional designers. The professorship, which is formulated as Design Sciences, is extremely rare within design academia. To this end, a degree in Design Sciences is currently still very innovative.
