  Zollverein School:
New MBA course links management and design

Applications now welcome: degree course for managers and designers kicks off in September

Essen (xx April 2004). Anyone interested in taking the first international Master's degree at the Zollverein School of Management and Design in Essen, Germany, can now apply for a place on this course. The degree course, which allows students to combine work and study, will start in September and will link management and design expertise in a revolutionary new way. It is aimed at future managers working in companies where design in its many facets (creation and communication) is largely responsible for the company's competitive edge. After two years, graduates will have a Master of Business Administration (MBA). The closing date for receipt of applications is 30 June 2004.

The Zollverein School's new educational program, which is run in conjunction with the private University of Witten/Herdecke and the Universities of Duisburg-Essen and Wuppertal, is international, practical, and seeks to forge links between the fields of management and design expertise. Over the course of six terms, students will acquire the skills required to assess the quality of different design solutions, make independent design-related decisions, and initiate and co-ordinate design processes.

The course is modular in structure and divided into two strands: Strategic Design and Organisational Design. All tuition will be in English. Each module will be run by a university lecturer. The Zollverein School's tuition staff will also include well-known designers and managers.

Successful applicants will have the required career and educational qualifications and a good command of the English language. At the end of the first application phase, extensive interviews
will be held with applicants in Essen in July and August.
